Dear supporter,

Metamorfosis Documentation Project is based on a belief in and appreciation for the richness of cultural traditions, focusing on cross cultural rituals and dances in the Americas. We work to document and support these rituals and dances in their own cultural settings and to share them with a wider audience, fostering an understanding of distinct cultures and an appreciation for our own cultural traditions.

A prime example of where we are with our larger projects is our recent La Danza de la Pluma Project. We documented this cross cultural dance in Teotitlán del Valle in Oaxaca, Mexico; produced a video documentary (“La Danza de la Pluma. Faith, Sacrifice and Tradition”) and donated the rights of reproduction to the Teotitlán del Valle Community Museum to sell for improvements to the Museum. We then participated in the Santa Fe Art Institute's annual lecture series where we presented the results of this cultural interchange and screened the documentary; had screenings of the documentary in the Kent Film Festival in Kent, Connecticut and in the Cine Las Americas International Film Festival in Austin, Texas; and lastly, brought the Dance Group from Teotitlán del Valle to New Mexico for four presentations of La Danza de la Pluma in Santa Fe, Albuquerque and Socorro.

Our current Oaxaca Arts and Culture Tour is an endeavor meant to foster this cultural interchange and understanding, while also being a fund raising event for our main, larger projects.

Our future projects rely on a mix of support, including fund raisers, grants from foundations and your individual support. We appreciate your interest and your support.
